Who it's for
People in an irregular situation who can prove continuous stay in Spain (the exact period depends on the arraigo type).
Who CAN'T apply for it
- If you've been in Spain for less than 2 continuous years, you can't apply for any type of arraigo yet — we'll notify you as soon as you reach the threshold.
- If your family connection in Spain is general, such as siblings or cousins living here, but you're not the parent or guardian of an EU minor or the caregiver of an EU family member with a disability, family arraigo doesn't apply to your case — social arraigo probably does.
- If your only absence from Spain during those 2 years was longer than 90 consecutive days, your case needs individual review: we don't automatically calculate whether that absence breaks continuity.
- For labor arraigo you need a contract or offer of at least 20 hours a week at minimum wage or the applicable collective agreement rate — without that, you don't meet this specific type, though social arraigo might still apply.
Typical documentation
Passport
Valid, or expired together with proof that you've already renewed it.
Historical municipal registration (padrón)
A certificate showing how long you've been registered in Spain; we request it at your town hall.
Employment contract or job offer, or a social integration report
Depends on the arraigo type (social, labor, or family) that applies to you.
Criminal record certificate
From the countries you've lived in over the last 5 years.
Arraigo report from the town hall or regional government
A document proving your integration; the exact process varies by type.

How many years do I need to apply for arraigo?
2 years of continuous stay in Spain, under any of the types: social, labor, family, labor-social, or training-based.
Is family arraigo for any family member I have in Spain?
No. It only applies if you're the parent or guardian of a minor with EU, EEA, or Swiss nationality, or if you care for an EU family member with a disability. Having siblings, cousins, or other relatives in Spain doesn't qualify for this type — social arraigo is probably the right fit.
What if I've been outside Spain for more than 90 days in a row?
We don't assume either way — it's exactly the kind of calculation where getting it wrong is costly, so your case gets individual review before we prepare any documentation.
How long does the permit last once granted?
1 year for most types. Family arraigo is the exception: it grants 5 years.
